BØRRESEN CENTER3 LAUNCHES AS FIRST DEDICATED CENTRE CHANNEL FROM AUDIO GROUP DENMARK

Børresen Center3 Centre Channel Loudspeaker

Audio Group Denmark has announced the Børresen Center3, the company’s first loudspeaker designed specifically for centre-channel duties in home cinema systems.

The model is intended to handle dialogue reproduction, which typically accounts for the majority of vocal content in film and television soundtracks.

BØRRESEN CENTER3 FOCUSES ON DIALOGUE CLARITY

The design brief centres on maintaining natural, intelligible speech during complex scenes. According to the company, the aim is to ensure voices remain clearly anchored to the screen while integrating consistently with the wider front soundstage.

BØRRESEN CENTER3 CENTRE CHANNEL LOUDSPEAKER

The Børresen Center3 was developed in Denmark through collaboration between Michael Børresen and Flemming Erik Rasmussen. It represents a shift for the brand, being its first loudspeaker conceived specifically for centre-channel use rather than adapted from stereo designs.

The accompanying whitepaper also highlights that the project focused on achieving tonal consistency across music, film and television content, with attention given to both acoustic performance and integration into living spaces.

DRIVER TECHNOLOGY

The loudspeaker uses two Børresen DCC5 Neo 5-inch mid/bass drivers featuring a three-layer composite diaphragm with a Nomex honeycomb core and carbon fibre skins. Graphene elements are included to control resonance behaviour.

High frequencies are handled by the Børresen RP-94 ribbon tweeter, which uses a very low-mass aluminium-coated membrane designed for fast transient response.

CABINET AND CROSSOVER DESIGN

The enclosure is constructed from thick hardwood laminates with internal bracing to increase rigidity and reduce unwanted resonance. Each driver operates within its own chamber to minimise interference.

Børresen employs a serial crossover topology rather than a conventional parallel design. This approach allows phase-locked current through the drivers in the crossover region, with the intention of improving coherence across the frequency range.

MECHANICAL CONTROL AND INSTALLATION

The Børresen Center3 is supplied with a dedicated cradle system designed to provide stability and allow precise positioning. This incorporates Ansuz Darkz Feet for vibration control and alignment flexibility.

BØRRESEN CENTER3 SPECIFICATIONS OVERVIEW

Key specifications include a frequency response of 45Hz to 50kHz, sensitivity of 87dB, and an 8 Ohm nominal impedance. The loudspeaker measures 599mm wide and weighs just over 20kg including its base.

BØRRESEN CENTER3 PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Børresen Center3 is listed with an MSRP of €6,000 or $7,000, with availability dependent on market.

HiFi PiG Says: A very sensible move for Audio Group Denmark, as ever, listening to their customers’ demands and delivering what they need to complete their systems.
